The "Simple Life with Middle Path" will be instrumental to create more responsible and sustainable tourism development by providing right opportunity to integrate other major types of tourism development such as Agro tourism, Rural Tourism, Wellness Tourism etc as complementary tourist attractions to Buddhist Tourism of the country.
In addition to Provide an opportunity to affiliate with international Buddhist Tourism operators that can improve the networks and integration with the regional Buddhist and Religious Tourism operators/agents centering Sri Lanka as a hub. This conference will be the first ever International conference on Buddhist Tourism in Sri Lanka.
Objectives
The major objective of the Conference is to explore the possible strategies to promote Buddhist Tourism in Sri Lanka as a new niche market segment by capitalizing comparative and competitive advantages belonging with Sri Lanka as a Buddhist Tourist Destination in the world.
In addition, following specific objectives are to achieve from this first ever Buddhist Tourism Conference in Sri Lanka:

What we do at the International Buddhist Tourism Summit 2018
The IBTS 2018, comprises various Buddhist Tourism related topics being discussed by our panel of Professors on related topics.
The topics for discussion will be focused on the pearl of the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka as a Buddhist tourist’s attraction Centre. This would give an insight of how other countries could develop Buddhist Tourism.
The other topics that would be discussed will be focused on some of the best Buddhist Tourism practices in a global context followed by A simple life and middle path for Responsible Religious Tourism Development and a discussion which would also be a guideline to Code of ethics and Network Development for International Buddhist Tourism.

Ridee Vihiraya - Silver Temple
The Ridee Viharaya as the name suggests of “Ridee” meaning Silver, Thus is a Silver Monastery situated in the village of Rideegama in the North Western Province, about 21 miles away from the City of Kurunegala in Sri Lanka. This monastery is well known and treasured for the Sinhala Arts, Wall Paintings, Architecture, unique Ivory carvings,wood and metal work. Many of the remains belong to the late medieval era in Sri Lanka’s history that is reckoned to be the Kandyan period. (1592-1815)
One of the many unique aspects about Ridee Viharaya is that for the last two hundred and fifty years, three of its high prelates have become the Supreme Heads or Mahanayakas of the Malwatta Chapter of the Siyam Nikaya.
None who travel to the ancient city of Anuradahapura would miss visiting this spectacular ancient buddhist temple which is rich in its spectacular sights of rocks, cave temples which are undamaged and well protected.
As the architectural work found here belongs to the Kandyan Period these temples were pronmoted and named as Raja Maha Vihara meaning Great Royal Temple during the Kandyan Kingdom.
Ridivihahar which is a cave temple with many caves around its vicinity is an place where buddhist monks lived two hundred years ago. They are the great people who had converted the natural settings of the area to suit their monastic life and practicing meditation. Early records show that there had been over five hundred Arahant Bhikkus living inthese cave temples and practicing meditation.
